Turbinoplasty in Long Island, NY

The air you breathe is filtered, moistened and warmed by ridges of soft tissue known as nasal turbinates. Any inflammation or abnormalities with the tissue may interfere with breathing and cause symptoms. Eunice E. Park, MD, who is dual board-certified in facial plastic surgery and ear, nose and throat (otolaryngology), offers turbinoplasty procedures for residents of Long Island, Queens and surrounding communities in New York to alleviate problems caused by the nasal turbinates.

What is Turbinoplasty?

Turbinoplasty is surgery that changes the position of the nasal turbinates inside your nose. These soft tissue-covered bones are responsible for filtering, warming and moisturizing the air that you breathe. Irritants in the air may cause the nasal turbinates to become inflamed which impedes breathing. Some patients have natural abnormalities of the nasal turbinates that cause similar symptoms.

Benefits of Turbinoplasty

Dr. Park may recommend turbinoplasty to help you breathe through your nose better when medications and other options have not worked as desired.

Am I a Candidate for Turbinoplasty?

If you have a history of chronic sinusitis or other problems breathing through your nose, you may be a candidate for turbinoplasty. Dr. Park reviews your medical history and symptoms during the consultation. She will also discuss what methods you have used to improve your breathing. Based on her findings, she may recommend turbinoplasty.

What to Expect from Turbinoplasty

During the turbinoplasty procedure, Dr. Park uses a special tool to change the position of the nasal turbinates. She may need to remove some of the tissue and bone. The surgery can be performed using local or general anesthesia based on the extent of the procedure.

Turbinoplasty is an outpatient procedure, so you will be released to go home after you recover from the procedure. You may have some pain for up to three days. You will need to rest at home for at least one week. Normal activities can be resumed after three weeks. The healing process can take up to three months.

We will provide aftercare instructions before you leave our facility.

This may vary based on the determination by your insurance carrier. For your convenience, we accept several forms of payment for your portion, including cash, checks and major credit cards.
